BANGLADESHI-AMERICAN YOUTH — HELP OUR PRESIDENT SAVE BANGLADESH, AND THE PLANET!
- Create a one-page factsheet describing the likely impacts of climate change in Bangladesh. Use the resources linked to from our Climate Change in Bangladesh page.
Explain the problem clearly, for non-scientists. You can use bullet points, diagrams, or maps.
Estimate: 30 min research, 30 min writing
- Show your factsheet to one or more adults. What do they think Bangladeshi-Americans should do about the problem? Ask them to share family stories from the language movement, independence movement, women's education, or other situations where groups of everyday people helped change the world around them.
Summarize what you learn in 250 words or less. Estimate: 15 min interview, 10 min writing
- Write a 2-4 paragraph letter to President Obama, with your suggestions on what facts or ideas he should keep in mind as he helps decide the future of our planet's environment at the Copenhagen climate conference in December. Highlight at least one fact you discovered while making your factsheet.
Look at the letter template format. Look at the examples for inspiration. Your letter will be sent to the White House, to show President Obama that young people care about the future of Bangladesh and the planet! Estimate: 1 hour writing
